The Curriculum Mapping KnowledgeBase : Element 2 : Activity 2 : Task 2: Identify the Revision Points
The Oklahoma State Department of Education's Process of Curriculum Mapping outline lists five aspects of identifying revision points. They are
- "highlight areas of inconsistency within and across grade levels,
- note areas for possible revision in the curriculum,
- focus on horizontal and vertical articulation of concepts,
- identify common areas of concern and look for ways to eliminate or minimize their impact, and
- identify gaps and overlaps."
Together, they provide a focus for reviewing maps.
This Oklahoma State Department of Education document offers a process approach to curriculum mapping. The six step process offers action steps to take at each phase.
This resource provides a series of questions to use when reviewing curriculum maps. This material was adapted from "Mapping the Big Picture" training materials by Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs.
Janet Hale is a national curriculum mapping consultant and trainer. In this archived presentation, "Janet Hale explains each step in the review process as well as provides examples of problems, issues, or concerns that may be addressed using maps and a mapping system’s search and report features to aid in collegial data-driven decision making reviews." It is approximately one hour in length.
