This link to the Education Testing Service website provides a series of reports studying the achievement gap.

This link to Childstats.gov provides its report covering 40 indicators impacting children's lives. Some of these indicators impact academic performance.

This link is to the Education Commission of the States issue page containing resources addressing the achievement gap.

This report sponsored by the Institute for Educational Leadership looks at the demographics of the first five years of life. Its key point is children born into poverty start out behind and only have a chance to recover with an effective investment in Pre-K day care, health care, and education.

This link is to a Center on Education Policy report reviewing whether trends from state test scores are showing a closing in the achievement gap. As noted at its website, "this report examines testing data from all 50 states to determine if achievement gaps between subgroups of students are narrowing. The report also looks at the achievement trends of subgroups of students at the elementary school level."
