Research about how the brain functions is ever-changing. Being aware of the current state of such research helps teachers better understand adolescent and teenage behavior.

This link is to a Society for Neuroscience brief on the adolescent brain.

This link is to the website for PBS' Frontline program episode on "Inside the Teenage Brain." The site summarizes the research on how the adoelscent brain develops and has a link to six video segments from the television show. The six segments together run 60 minutes and can be viewed separately.

This National Institute of Mental Health fact sheet provides an overview of the current research on brain development during adolescence.
