The Adolescent Literacy KnowledgeBase : Element 4 : Activity 3 : Task 2: Middle to High School

Guideline:

Adolescence is a journey of transitions through early, middle, and late stages. Through each stage, the adolescent deals with aspects of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development. Possessing an awareness of these transitions enables educators to assist adolescent students with navigating these transitions as they move from middle to high school.

A parent guide is available for download as well as two streaming videos addressing transitions to middle and high school. This resource may be useful for teachers when responding to questions from parents.

Developed by the Los Angeles (California) County Office of Education, SchoolGuides.org provides information on transitions for parents and students to middle school, high school, and life after high school. Though oriented toward California students, the website's content may be useful to parents and students in other states. This resource may also be useful for teachers when responding to questions from parents and students.

This page at the National High School Center website provides a number of resources related to the transition to high school.
