KnowledgeBases > The Writing Successful Grants KnowledgeBase > Element 2 > Activity 1 > Task 1: Organize a Project Team

Guideline:

Organizing a project team enables the grant seeker to broaden stakeholder participation, optimize creativity, and create a better program than if one person designed it and wrote the proposal. Prior to forming the project team the grant seeker should determine its role, establish membership criteria, and identify prospective members. With the pre-planning completed the prospective members will know what is being asked of them.

A broad range of stakeholders should be involved in the improvement process. This checklist may help the improvement team identify stakeholders in its community.

Organizing the project team may involve bringing together a diverse group of people who have had little prior experience with each other or people who have worked together but not really collaborated with each other before. The team building tips offered will help a team leader focus their attention on the key points when organizing their team.
