The completed school climate profile is a tool the principal can use to assess the school's environment and its impact on student safety and academic achievement. It identifies opportunities for creating a positive school climate.

Section 2 offers a list of 13 school climate-related attributes of safe and responsive schools. School administrators may find the list helpful when assessing their school's climate and identifying opportunities for improvement.
The Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University provides a list of questions for evaluating school climate. The questions are organized into categories such as student-teacher relations, security and maintenance, administration, student-peer relations, and others.
