Guideline:

When contemplating changes in instructional delivery, teachers need to ensure instruction aligns with the applicable state and district instructional standards. Likewise, formative assessments should be consistent with district assessment standards and policies.  As questions arise, teachers should call upon district curriculum specialists for assistance.

This Florida Department of Education brief gives an overview of aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Though the context relates to Florida, the basic principles may be applicable to any school. The guidance brings the process into the classroom to assure classroom assessments are aligned with applicable standards.

From the Teacher's Network, this video presentation models how standards, curriculum, and assessment can be aligned in the classroom situation.
