KnowledgeBases > Improvement Team Invitation Letter

Dear (Name of recipient),

A school improvement team is a group of people identified by the school's principal to develop collaboratively a plan to enhance student achievement. It is a decentralized, shared process that includes people such as administrators, teachers, support staff members, students, business leaders, and parents who sincerely care about all the students in that school and what they need to learn to succeed.

Under the provisions of Title I of the No Child Left Behind Act, the (School District Name) has identified (Name of School) as a school in need of improvement. As a result, (Name of School) has up to three months to develop or revise a school improvement plan to present to the district.

The school improvement plan, as developed by the school improvement team, will be our guide to improve student performance within the context of the state's academic achievement standards. While recognizing the time demands over the next three months will be great, we are seeking your participation as a (school or community) leader in this endeavor to improve our school's academic performance.

Thank you for considering this request. Please call me if you have any questions. Otherwise, I will contact you within the next week to confirm your willingness to assist us.

Sincerely,

(Name)

School Principal
