Teaching Tolerance

Increasing staff awareness of diversity and tolerance issues is an essential part of a comprehensive approach to creating a positive multicultural school climate. In approaching such staff development these elements are important.

  • Strive for continuity involving  staff with an interest in equity issues in the planning process.
  • Provide training to all building staff
  • Be sensitive to the position of minority staff
  • Seek outside experts for assistance
  • Acknowledge that dialogue about diversity and tolerance is an ongoing process

Additional information on staff development is available at http://www.tolerance.org/rthas/section3_2_1.jsp.
