Teaching Tolerance
Increasing staff awareness of diversity and tolerance issues is an essential part of a comprehensive approach to creating a positive multicultural school climate. In approaching such staff development these elements are important.
- Strive for continuity involving staff with an interest in equity issues in the planning process.
- Provide training to all building staff
- Be sensitive to the position of minority staff
- Seek outside experts for assistance
- Acknowledge that dialogue about diversity and tolerance is an ongoing process
