KnowledgeBases > Questions to Ask Before Writing the Proposal

When conceptualizing the project the grant seeker should assess the odds of being successful with the proposal and how the project fits within its organization. The following questions are helpful in this regard.

  • Are the odds of the proposal being funded good enough that it is worth preparing the proposal?
  • Is the potential project consistent with my personal professional goals and those of my employing institution?
  • Can the project be undertaken without severely jeopardizing the other priority responsibilities of my institution?
  • What are my reasons for undertaking this endeavor? Are they consistent with reality?
